THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND SAFELET™

1. Haptic Disc: This technology, developed by Apple™ in 2008, allows us to feel several pulses that vibrate depending on our settings. SafeTeam integrates haptic touch to let you feel that someone is on the way. When someone responds to your call for help, the actuator sends a comforting series of vibrations to let you know help is coming. It will continue to vibrate periodically depending on the radius of the responder. If no one is available, a vibration pattern (three pulses) will let you know the call wasn't answered without you having to check your smartphone.

2. Microchip: A tiny chip that monitors GPS location and controls transmitter/receiver signals as well as haptic pulses.

3. Pressure Sensitive Metal Plate: A thin metal plate that, when pressed, signals the microchip to send out a call for help. It only requires a tap to work.

4. Lithium Battery: A battery smaller than that pictured above, but powerful enough to power the device for up to one week at a time. A charging dock charges the device via induction technology and takes less than 2 hours to fully recharge.

5. The Transmitter/Receiver: Encased in the haptic engineering chip, this part sends and receives signals to and from your device to your smartphone and others.

CHARGING THE DEVICE
205 mAh battery in an Apple Watch™ will last about 72 hours on Power Reserve mode. Our device aims to last one week or longer on a single charge and take less than 2 hours to fully recharge. The charging dock has two elements: a transformer (essentially like the stand of an electric toothbrush) that connects to an outlet and a circuit embedded inside your device (like the coil inside the base of a toothbrush). Magnet ensures stable connection.
